End of 2011 - Migraine

Had a pretty good Christmas but saw the last few days of 2011 out with a Migraine.

I've suffered with this foul condition for many years but on Dec 28th, decided to try and visualize what the beginning of going into the 'M' zone actually feels like.

For me, it normally starts with a stiff neck that rises. There's a horrible drained feeling and a sensitivity to sound, then the shuddering starts. Quite often I end up vomiting several times and able to do nothing but lie in bed.

During a migraine I'll put my hand over my head and it feels as if I could fit my head within the palm of my hand... a bizarre shrunken head sensation...

This condition is remarkably common. I regard it as a huge waste of time but after I've had one, I get an enormous amount of energy and a lot of work done!!

  1. I'm a migraine sufferer too vee. There are two related conditions the type of migraine associated with nausea you get and classic migraine that has no nausea but it is generally considered the pains in the head are greater during. Have you tried taking Migraleve? They're really good. Did you know that Lewis Carroll suffered terribly with Migraines and the visuals described in Alice in Wonderland often describe his similar feelings to yours? Hence the story of eating the cake and mushroom that makes her smaller and then taller and twinkling stars in the day sky which are thought to be his description of the halo many sufferers get in the run up to their attack (including myself.
    All the best tilt (Gary)

  2. Hello Gary, Thanks for getting in touch.

I didn't realise Lewis Carroll suffered from the dreaded migraine. I have a lovely edition of Alice In Wonderland Illustrated by Mervyn Peake. I think I'll go and re-read it now (with fresh eyes after hearing that background information) x
